Mission Statement
Our Youth Ministrys Mission statement is
based on 3 scriptures:
First:
1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and
love. But the greatest of these is love.
Second:
Matthew 25: 31 to 46
For I was hungry you gave me something to
eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you
invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked
after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me
Thirdly:
Luke 10: 25 37
Love the Lord your God with all your
heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind;
and, Love your neighbor as yourself.
Also in this passage is the story of the
Good Samaritan.
Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man
who fell into the hands of robbers? The expert in the law replied, The one who
had mercy on him. Jesus told him, Go and do likewise.
Faith, Hope, Love, Charity and Mercy is our
call because of what Jesus has done for us! This is our mission as well in our
Say It Loud, St. Annes Youth youth ministry.
Dearest Parishioners:
Our whole ministry is based on these lessons
and we have developed an exciting program in order to teach and share these
beliefs.
Our new calendar (starting in September)
will be out shortly. It is a lot of work to plan and coordinate and entire year
of meetings and events. We have many new events to offer this coming season! It
is always a challenge to keep things fresh and exciting. (We have been doing
this for 19 years now!)
We are considering dropping our starting age
from grade 5 to grade 4. This would mean that our youth groups will change
slightly. A grade 4,5 group and a grade 6,7,8 group as well as a high school
group.
We have a very large volunteer team to train
each year. (usually 40 to 60) They are the ones who run youth group meetings and
events. They are made up of adults and also teenagers in high school. We have
several meetings as well as an annual training event in September. (See the ad
online) If you would like to be involved this coming school year, you can email
me directly or just come to the training meetings starting in September. They
will be advertised on line and at Mass.
As the years have gone on I can honestly say
that this has been an extremely rewarding ministry for me personally. It is a
challenge children have not changed but the world we live in has however; I
can assure you that it has been, and is, worth the effort!
May God bless you and your families! I will
have further updates soon.
